Thousands of sandhill cranes and snow geese stop here around November & December during their annual migration. This is the closest wildlife area to NewAge RV & Campsite Park – it is right off exit 175 & HWY 60 area: click here for the Bernardo Wildlife Map

On the west side of the park – there is a Ladron Peak (9143 ft.) that never fails to display beautiful sunsets almost every day on a clear sky day. It is located on the Sevilleta Wildlife Refuge, one of the largest refuges in the National Wildlife Refuge System in the lower 48 states. 

On the east side of the park, we have Whiteface Peak (7530 ft.) – which is ranked #130 New Mexico Peaks with P1000 feet & the high point of the Los Pinos Range. Its parent lineage is the Manzano Mountains (#14 P2000 list in New Mexico)

Salinas Pueblo Missions National Monument are historic ruins that have three distinct sites – which were excavated by the Museum of New MexicoUniversity of New Mexico & the School of American Research in June-December, 1938. Later in 1939, they were declared a National Monument & ever since then, the “Pueblo” (which means village) has been the place where visitors explore, learn & connect with the Missionaries, various cultures of Native American people & Spanish heritage.

This is one of the most underrated cities in New Mexico! About 20 minutes away from the park – the city of Belen has a lot to offer. It has a rich history dating back to the 1600s, it has Breweries & wineries, outdoor recreations, dining, art galleries, memorials, and many more…If you are looking for a grocery store in the area – check this map out.
